Want a lawyer's view?
Our Will is a template that suits most people. But we don't know your individual circumstances. For peace of mind, an Australian solicitor can read your Will and tell you whether it's right for you.
How our template works
Most Australian Wills follow the same structure: who your executor is, who looks after your children, any specific gifts, and how the rest of your estate is shared. Our Will is built on that common structure, which fits the majority of people and their circumstances.
Your answers fill in the template. What we can't do is look at the bigger picture of your life and decide whether that structure is the right one for you. That's what a lawyer can do.
Not sure if you need one? Check whether a template is right for you.

You receive a written note. If the template isn't right for you, they can quote for the extra work, with no obligation.
Language, understanding and pressure from others
A Will can be challenged if the person making it didn't understand it, wasn't of sound mind, or was pressured. These are things a form can't check, but a solicitor talking with you can.
- If English isn't your first language, the solicitor can arrange an independent professional interpreter for your call, and for signing your Will if needed. It shouldn't be a family member, especially one named in your Will. Any interpreter cost is confirmed with you first.
- The solicitor speaks with you directly, and for part of the call on your own, even if a family member helped you book. That's how they can be sure the wishes are yours.
- If there are concerns about memory or understanding, for example because of illness, the solicitor will tell you and recommend the right next step. That may mean having them prepare your Will with a capacity assessment from your doctor, quoted separately.
CreateAWill doesn't provide interpreters or capacity assessments. The independent solicitors we work with can arrange them as part of their own services.
How it works, and how we're paid
- What the review is for. Peace of mind that the template you've used is right for your circumstances. It's a review, not a rewrite.
- Independent solicitors. Reviews are carried out by independent Australian solicitors, not by CreateAWill. Your advice, and your relationship, are with the solicitor. CreateAWill is not a law firm.
- How we choose them. Every solicitor we work with holds a current practising certificate, has experience in Wills and estates, and carries professional indemnity insurance. We match you with one who knows your state's law.
- How you pay. The solicitor confirms the fixed fee in writing and invoices you directly. The fee is the fixed price shown on this page, with no extra charges for the review.
- Our commission. CreateAWill receives a referral fee from the solicitor for each review. We don't receive anything for any further work you choose to have them do, so there's no reason for us to steer you towards it.
- If your template isn't right. The solicitor will tell you why and can give you a quote for the extra work. You're under no obligation to go ahead.
